The aldehyde-free water-based adhesive, a new type of water-based polymer specially designed for wood-based panels, is a patented technology developed by the Technical Institute of Physics and Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences. This new adhesive adopts molecular design theory and technology to develop a unique water-based aldehyde-free adhesive system. It contains no harmful substances such as formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, xylene and heavy metals, and completely solves the problem of releasing harmful substances such as formaldehyde from wood-based panels. Moreover, there is no discharge of three wastes (waste gas, waste water and waste residues) in the production process. Therefore, it is a green chemical product.

Being the most cost-effective product among the several aldehyde-free adhesives known at present, the aldehyde-free water-based adhesive overcomes the shortcomings of soybean-based adhesive, which has high viscosity, inconvenient sizing and poor water resistance, and solves the problems of poor initial viscosity, loose blank and sticky board in the process of producing wood-based panels with MDI-based adhesive.

According to the production process of different kinds of wood-based panels, corresponding special aldehyde-free water-based adhesive formulas are designed as a series of aldehyde-free wood-based panel adhesive products. The adhesive breaks through the bottleneck of the application process of aldehyde-free adhesive at home and abroad, solves many problems such as sizing difficulty, bulk blank, board sticking, demoulding when other aldehyde-free adhesives are applied in the production process of many artificial boards (plywood, particleboard, fiberboard, straw board and wood floor), allows continuous and large-scale production, and improves production efficiency.  The mechanical strength and water resistance of the board applied with aldehyde-free water-based adhesive, such as aldehyde-free fiberboard, particleboard, plywood, wheat straw board, joinery board, and solid wood composite floor, are much higher than those of the existing board using urea-formaldehyde resin, and have excellent bonding strength, water resistance and aging resistance. Especially when applied to heated floor, the board has the advantages of high dimensional stability, no release of harmful substances such as formaldehyde, etc.



There is a huge market demand for green adhesives. With the improvement of living standard, consumers pay more and more attention to health. The market especially welcomes green and environment-friendly adhesives that do not contain harmful substances such as formaldehyde, benzene, toluene, and xylene, while at the same time are economically viable. The adhesive is green, environmentally-friendly, with excellent performance and moderate price, so it has good market promotion potential.

There are many local enterprises producing wood-based panels, but few enterprises for green adhesive. The High-grade Environmentally-friendly Project for Wood-based Panels (Phase I) of Guigang (Qintang) National Green Home Furnishing Industrial Park is located in Qintang Forestry Ecological Circular Economy (Core) Demonstration Zone in Guangxi province of China. The total investment of the project is 2 billion Yuan, covering an area of 319 mu, with an annual output of 600,000 m3 of wood floor, skirting line and high-grade environmentally-friendly wood-based panels. It is divided into 7 plant areas, with a total construction area of 213,000 m2.  At present, part of the plant construction has been completed and is expected to be completed and put into operation in September this year. According to the industrial layout adjustment of Guigang city, the first phase of the Project to build high-grade environmentally-friendly wood-based panels in Guigang National Green Home Furnishing Industrial Park will have an output value of about 3.5 billion Yuan, which create 1,200 jobs around, and the tax revenue will be about 100 million Yuan. At present, the wood-based panels in Guangxi are mainly made of urea-formaldehyde resin. The use of these high-grade eco-boards will greatly promote the use of green and environmentally-friendly adhesives.



This project is located in Qintang District, Guigang City, Guangxi Province. As one of China’s provincial administrative region, with Nanning as its capital, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region is located in South China, bordering Guangdong province in the east, Beibu Gulf in the south and facing Hainan across the sea, Yunnan in the west, Hunan in the northeast, Guizhou in the northwest and Vietnam in the southwest.

This area is one of the main production areas of wood-based panels in China, with a good industrial base. The project is located in Qintang National Green Home Furnishing Industrial Park, with all necessary public facilities and energy infrastructure.

Guigang, located in the southeast of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, is an important gateway to the sea route in southwest China and the natural gas pipeline terminal of China-Myanmar oil and gas pipeline. Guigang Port is the largest inland river port in western China and a pilot city of national wisdom city. Guigang City is a first-tier national open port and a national demonstration area for industry clusters, and has been recognized as “National Forest City”. There is a high-speed railway from Guigang to Nanning, the capital of Guangxi. It takes more than 40 minutes.
